Love Local Haul: witchy home vibes edition

Halloween is fast approaching. In the ordinary course of things, I would have been busy preparing candy packs for trick or treaters. Yet, we live in such extraordinary times.

With the pandemic, going out is restricted and group hangs are prohibited. Despite such, we can still turn things around and feel the spirit (except ghosts 👻) of All Hallow’s Eve. Instead of wearing costumes and going trick or treating, we can decorate with local products for some witchy vibe in the house. By this, we hit two birds with one stone! We get to support local + celebrate Halloween at the same time. 🎃

For some witchy vibes, we need 3 things: the moon, the fire, and the scent.

The Moon: Handmade Luna Square Box from Lunary.ph

It is no secret that the moon is important to witches. 🌕 🌖 🌗 🌘 🌑 🌒 🌓 🌔 It is the mother energy. Witch or no witch, admit it. Looking at the moon is comforting and that is another reason to bring it into your house.

The Luna Square box measures 7.5 inches x 3.5 inches. It is handcrafted by a father-daughter duo. The box is made of wood with a hand-drawn full moon on top. Purchase the box through Mysticalmoon.ph on Shopee or Lunary.ph on Instagram.

Price: P350

The witch way: This box can hold your precious crystals ready for cleansing under the full moon on October 31, 2020.

The muggle way: This can be a classy jewelry box or a calligraphy ink organizer.  😉

The Fire: Hand Poured Soy Candles from Mystic Candles PH

There is no ritual without a fire (I think 😅) and there is no easier way to bring a fire into your house than candles.

These candles are hand poured by Vanessa every full moon. They are scented with essential oils, and all raw materials are sourced locally. From production to shipping, Mystic Candles is very admirable. The workshop is initially cleansed before any candle is done within. The packaging is plastic free, their crinkle paper is made from old books, and they even accept refilling containers in their project called Revival Magik. Is there anything cooler than that? 🖤 Mystic Candles are available on Shopee and Instagram.

Price: P350

The witch way: Since it was thoughtfully prepared with a manifestation, the same can also be burned in manifesting. No need to amplify the candle (unless you really want to) because every bottle already has dried flowers, herbs, and crystals. This Eve candle with the scent of eucalyptus has lapiz lazuli in it. 💙

(For muggles: Manifesting is the cultivation of experience of what one wants to feel and believing in that for it to be a reality.)

The muggle way: There is nothing more energizing than mint. Go on, light it on down days to instantly lift the mood up.

The Scent: Palo Santo + White Sage Smudge Spray from Soluna

For muggles: Smudging is the ritual of burning herbs to wash away impurities or cleanse a particular area of negativity and unwanted energies. A smudge spray is the mist made of water and witch hazel with diluted herbs. It is a smoke-less alternative to burning sage.

Soluna’s smudge spray is thoughtfully made and ceremonially brewed with intentions, crystals like black tourmaline, clear quartz and amethyst, and music. It is not just another room spray. It is a potent energy spray in a small bottle. You can grab your Soluna smudge sprays through their Instagram account.

Price: P399 for the 60ml bottle

The witch way: This is a known alternative to sage burning. Hence, this smudge spray is a hassle-free way to instantly clear the energy in a room. This can also be used to cleanse crystals. Just rinse crystals under running water, pat them dry, spray the smudge, and store them again in little containers or fabric pouches.

The muggle way: Scientific studies show that an hour of sage smoke clears up to 94% of airborne bacteria. It also releases ions which is learned to put people in a positive mood. Spritz this in an area to release those ions or simply use it as a room spray.
