Here in the Philippines, our eating habits separate us from the rest of the world. We eat more than 5 times a day! Hence, it is no surprise that one of the ways we celebrate a festival is by…EATING! 😋🍴
The City of Batangas celebrates two major festivals, the City Fiesta and the Sublian Festival which coincides with the city’s founding anniversary. Both involve a lot of foooood. 😂
What is the Sublian Festival?
The Sublian Festival lasts for two weeks, and is celebrated every July. It is an embodiment of Batangueños’ devotion to the Holy Cross in Bauan and Agoncillo, and the Sto. Niño in Batangas City. During the festival, you can watch performances such as subli dancing, serenades, and parades.
Performances are not the only thing you should look forward to during the festival. SM City Batangas, in celebration of the Sublian Festival, holds various activities that your whole family can enjoy. This year, SM City Batangas hosts Sublian Food Fest, Music Fest, and Kapuso Mall Show. On top of that is the Sale of up to 50% off! (I know. It’s so awesome!😊)
Sublian Food Fest: All You Can Eat Burgers, Sandwiches, and Dessert
I participated on the last leg of the Sublian Food Fest, and I must say, it’s totally worth it! Almost all of my favorite restaurants participated in the event.
Here is a sneak peek of what can be availed at the Sublian Food Fest 2017.
Below is a view of our table. Since it is Burgers, Sandwiches, and Desserts night, you can see a lot of breads and sweets on it. A BLT sandwich with Fries from Allegra’s Kitchen. (Check them out at the new wing of SM City Batangas😉). Fan favourite Buchi from Flavors of China. The mainstay for every Chowking meal, Siopao. Yum Burger from Jollibee, and Cheese Burger from Burger King. A BLT sandwich, red velvet croissant, and matcha croissant from Cafe France. (They are also located at the new wing of SM City Batangas😉)
For dessert, we had the all-time pinoy favorite, Leche Flan, from Gerry’s Grill. The Graham cake is from Giliggan’s. Healthy Fruits & Cream from Kenny Rogers, Sundae Pie from Burger King, and, of course, the go-to dessert, Blizzard from Dairy Queen.
If you did not make it to the Sublian Food Fest, don’t fret. You can still join other activities during the Sublian Festival 2017! Rave parties with Slapshock and other awesome DJs from the Metro will be at SM City Batangas on July 22 while Kapuso Stars will have a show on July 23. For sure you had a difficult time chowing all the food up. I remember when it is Marquee Mall’s Food Choices’ opening, it is also like that minus the bands. We also had twice or thrice food choices than your food and I don’t know how to eat them all up. I ended up taking all the food home. I miss events like this.
Such a great event. We don’t have this event in Sweden. Would love to go there however. For now I’m trying not to eat that much and losing the pregnancy kilos haha
